National day coming liao...anyone realize this year like very little people put up national flags at HDB? Those whole block got put one confirm is RC member put themselves one. What happen?

"the time where everybody put up national flag block by block..
the time where children hold those mini plastic flag running around...
the time where the streets were all true singaporean...
the time where the atmosphere is really different...
the time where going to national stadium is a once in a life time experience..
the time where everybody sing and speak the national athemn and pledge with one voice...

is all gone u know.."

"Singapore has changed. It is like a well-oiled machine, efficient and orderly, but what is lacking is the soul of the country. People here are like mercenaries, especially with the influx of foreign talent.

Singapore is still one of the best countries to live in but is it still home?
"

"i love this country
i love this piece of land where i was born and raised
i still do, but much like the very earth we live in, the species with the most influence is ruining it
everyday at an alarming pace. Money talks and elites walks. No human touch anymore.
You bite the bullet. You collect your pension when you are dying.

Have they forgotten the fundamental element which propelled Singapore to prosperity and stability?

It is not the men in white, its not the foreign talents but it is the people, people who have been here for generations, yes the pioneers may have left us but their blood flows on. The blood of true Singaporeans who are born and raised here. No amount of importing foreign "talent" can change the fact that WE are what will make this country move forward. It is because we are born and raised here we know how to excel here and how to improve the country from within, from the roots of the society.

But what happened? We are overlooked. we serve our national duty by giving the best years of our youth to National Service, and still do subsequently sacrificing our time with our family. Money and opportunities lost from our career/business for serving our country. We EARN our rights as citizens for ourselves and our families by SERVING and DEDICATING to the cause. Then some people from faraway lands with inferior education / qualifications comes and take our jobs while we serve dutifully, they REAP the benefits of stability and safety from the hardwork we SOWED. Well done.

Pray tell how am i supposed to feel even a slight notch of upbeat in my heart at the mention of national day? what does it mean to be Singaporean these days? Paying and paying? Not looked after at all , instead every hard earned cent is milked dry to the core? "
