OKAY! Rotisiaoboy goes to Bangkok to make good the benefit of Meself

I'll updead one day at a time..fingers tired hokay.
UPDATE: OKAY ALL DAYS POSTED LE!

DAY 1 and DAY 2...Arrival, Temples and Shopping Malls

This is buttseck buttie...berney lee!

Partners in crime at the airport..

Berney's favourite...duty free Gucci

Recharge before going on the flight

Smoking area at Terminal 1...so nice place

This is really useful! it works! i tried my phone on it. haha

Speeding trolley!

Once we checked into the gate. I sniped our airplane's head. See got pilot face =X

Changi Airport thru the looking glass..

Surprise surprise! Ben! What a coincidence. He's going off to Chiang Mai connecting thru Bangkok for 2 weeks..wonder if hes back already.

Sunset at Changi Airport..

First thing we looked for on the plane guess wat?

was food..naturally we were stumped to see cup noodles for $5. lol

Setting off...away from the Lee Dynasty

What the hell are this people doing?!

Bangkok from the skies

The Jetstar crew

Once we reached bangkok airport..so zhun..see people head kenna smash by glass panel from 2nd floor.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport..pronounced Su-Wa-Na-Phom.

Bangkok Taxi..ish very power..they are all little f1 drivers...

Because JetStar fcked up and put us one day earlier, we didnt have a hotel and did not want to spend the money to book one xtra night <- cheapskates. So we went to Khao San Road for an introduction to Bangkok night life.

First thing you realise there is there are nearly a 50-50 split of angmo and locals...lol

After a long (not really) flight...we were craving..for food! Saw this guy who spoke english..later found out hes a Belgian working in Thailand.

One of the reasons we were attracted to the place..it looks really cozy..how i wished it opens 24hours so we can just slack there the whole night. Later i also found out they dont really have a kitchen, they buy the food from the roadside and resell it to us at a higher price. Smart people! So basically they are selling the environment!

Oh yes..Berney needed to recharge his nicotine supplies..its cheap in Bangkok but not as cheap as Batam. About $3 for the Malboro

Free Sushi on the house..they were having promotion.

Egg Salad

Chicken Chop

Margherita Pizza

Its damn good!

True True

Yes..they provide FREE internet..omg!
What to do when have internet? Facebook! lol

and MSN!

We went roaming again..Elephants on the street..when do you ever see that in Singapore?

Yum yum..

Street Artists

Gary and Jon will remember getting pranked here...lol

Since we had nth to do..we went crazy and decided to explore Bangkok..with the aid of! =D

4am at Bangkok..where the wet market prepares for work.

Reaching Wat Arun..we discovered it does not open till 8am.

Meow meow posed for me..to kill time..thanks meow meow

Sleep deprievation causes hunger..its true u know!

Simple food...tastes very home made, not to mention its pretty cheap.

We were waiting for it to happen....
Day Break at the Chao Phraya River.

Oh my dogs! Never fails to amaze me what one can do with a simple kup kia.

The Little Guardian of the Wat Arun
This little dog is really fierce...

Amazing piece of architecture..of all the temples in Bangkok including the ones i will post later. This is the nicest in my opinion.

Berney on it..can see the size of the thing..its huge!

Climbing up was a chore...going down was scary..the steps were knee height..really really steep. one wrong move and good night.

But since we were there, there was no way we would chicken out..a nice view of the surrounding area.

Deep blue skies

We crossed the Chao Phraya to head to Wat Pho temple which houses the huge reclining buddha.

Bell building

The head of the reclining buddha..too bad it was under some renovation work. Its huge though. Like 2 double decker buses parked in a line.

Mother of Pearl Feet.

Slab of nothing

Donations please

Our tired souls and broken back (from the fucking heavy bags we were carrying) could no longer take it..and thank the roti that we could check in at 11am at Samran Place, our hotel for a trip.

Quiet place..

For the price..i am more than satisfied, this is miles better than Hotel 81! Oh yea..it even comes with free STAR MOVIES!! =O

Toilet..everything you would expect.

We resisted the urge to sleep and decided to make full use of our time in Bangkok! So

Refreshments first! The coke there is 170baht for plastic bottle ones and 100baht for glass ones..just for the nostagic feeling and cheaper price i got a few glass bottles of drinks. Fanta, Coke, etc. One problem though..we didnt have a bottle opener..LOL

First stop no doubt.MBK Shopping Mall...

Lots of clothes and buzzing with people there. Its pretty cheap about 200 baht for a good print tee..clothes were everywhere with crazy amount of variety not to mention fake branded goods.

Hunger stikes our tired bodies again...Fuji

They were pretty strict about the "no photography" sign in front. So i just had a few quick snaps. Nice place..for jap food..its really cheap. My Bento set which is very big and filling was only 240baht..which is like $10.

Tastes dam nice...its so big i couldnt take a picture of the whole thing!

Kori Azuki or just simply red bean ice..i only liked the top part..yum yum..hehe

Pan Fried Salmon and Fried Jap Tofu..i dunno the jap names for this stuff so yeah. =X

Seriously...its damn big..i think its the same volume as my head.

Continued exploring MBK. One characteristic of the building is that its bloody loooonnngg

Guishan this is for you.

Berney's favourite

Opps...he was looking for turqoise nail polish...whatever reason he would need it still puzzles me.

Next was Siam Paragon..one word describes this place. $

Golden ceiling of branded goods..

Tried Mr Bean Coffee there..no its not the Mr Bean you see at the MRT everyday. Its nice and cheaper than Starbucks..i still dun understand why people buy cakes from Starbucks, even though i work for them i highly recommend everyone to go Coffeebean instead for some expensive and nicer tasting cakes.

Cookies and Cream Mousse Cake

White Chocolate Cheesecake

Gaysorn..another $ place.

Platinum Mall...this is the place where peasants like us go to. Plain cotton tees for 80 baht..cheaper if you buy more.

I was highly anticipating our visist to Baiyoke Sky..the tallest building in Bangkok. I had initially planned to stay there but the price was slightly exorbitant for room.

Atop the observation tower! 200baht but totally worth it..come here. Must visit this place at least once..exhilarating experience!

There were many tourists like us also

Kool UFO lights

Sunset at Bangkok atop the Baiyoke Sky

Bangkok's rivers of life....

There were street stalls again under the Baiyoke Sky..its everywhere in bangkok.

By then..we had been sleep deprieved for over 38hours..our lethargic zombie brains just need one last feeding session before heading off to bed.

Samran Restaurant

Piona Player..he plays well..Berney though it was music from speakers until i pointed it out to him!

Fried Rice and Green Curry..yummy thai food.

Crispy chicken chop with thai sauce..the sauce is good

Finish off the day with Mango with Glutinous Rice...its a weird but nice combination.

DAY 3 update! I LIKE MOTORSHOWS

The next morning we woke up late! Yes..we missed the hotel breakfast..so we just went around walking the little alleys near our hotel.

Drinks distribution done manually..no van, no cars. Just good ole pushcarts. Come to think of it, its pretty environmentally friendly.

The back alleys..its pretty rundown, a different side of bangkok.

Ferries at the canals! This is cool..imagine Singapore having this..

Anti Money Laundering Office?! SG Charities could use one.

Nikon Day?!!

A Short walk at MBK again..Berney wanted to buy some stuff.

Victims of piracy

Bought Birkenstock here..i think gary and jon also got theirs?

Afterall shes just Staying Alive.

The itinerary was to go to the Bangkok Motorshow today one of the main highlights of the trip. We took our virgin ride on the BTS. Its pretty easy to understand, it wasnt really cheap but at least its cheaper than the taxi.

The Ticketing machine.

The Station itself..

Inside the train..another curious observation. Foreigners are everywhere...but i dont see banglas and china people, more tourists or white collar expats.

Before going to BITEC (the expo of Bangkok) we had to go recharge...We headed down to Tesco which was just beside the Oh Nut station (the station closest to BITEC)

Beef Tom Yam Vermicilli..there were lots of locals there..food and drinks were cheap...this was 40baht...which is like less than $2 for a bowl.

Milk Tea..sibei shiok..the milk tea in bangkok (Cha-yen) was really thick and sweet..so i took another cup of ice and diluted it..so i got 2 cups of milk tea for 15baht(less than $1)

BITEC!

Inside..Its huge...more than 4 halls with 2 outdoor areas..it dwarfs any motorshow in Singapore.

I'll just post some interesting cars.

Nissan 370z..the successor to the popular 350z. Looks pretty much the same..spot the minor differences.

Classic Skyline GT-T...now you dont see this in Singapore everyday.

American Muscle...

Alfa Romeo something..i forgot the name but i know there is one in Singapore.

Kawasaki Ninjas...sex on 2 wheels.

The girls not only had to show their faces and smile..they also had to conduct presentations and sell the cars.

There were dances and performances..this is from Ssyangyong

Isuzu got soccer performance from boi boi..

Saw one of my friend there.. Annie..lol. He and his long kkj. Aony A700 with 70-300 G.

Cherry was there..the makers of the Cherry QQ. The convertible looks cute.

BMW Concept, stunner.

Mazda Concept.

The new BMW Z4 E89 and 7 Series F01

Super pimped out Kup Kia.

Honda's bike division...interesting it seems Honda concentrate alot more on bike here than their cars. Probably cause the locals are more into their motorbikes than 4 fourwheeled vehicles.

Outdoor pimp car showcase..their mods are super exotic..with Singapore's restrictions its not hard to see why Bangkok's showcase are far more crazier.

A Toyota Corolla with winged doors and bmw style headlights..crazy

I wonder how they clear humps.

Okay now to the showgirls! Their standards are better then Singapore, see for yourself!

--------NOT SAFE FOR WORK WARNING ---------

Toyota

Dont ask me if they are transformers cause i wouldnt know.

Tata Motors

Hyundai..my favourite booth. =X

One of my favourite pictures.

Dunlop

Berney describes her as "cute cute" lol

Honda

Ssangyong

Volkwagen..the girls there can really pose well

Caught another photog's flash here

The girl from Cherry

Okay..guy models were scarce here

Isuzu

Proton..their presentation was superb..too bad they were presenting pretty crappy cars.

BMW Motorbike

Lexus

Mitsubishi

Kawasaki

Sorry..didnt get a chance to shoot the guys..

Suzuki.

Yamaha

Honda Bike..their motorbike booth was huge..great performance too!

Even the information counter also got pretty pretty.. *faints*

Outdoor "free" area...coyotes dancing on cars..woo..

Dance dance!

Video of the place there....crazy loud music setting your heart pumping and ear drums jumping.

Its super loud..i was talking thru the entire video but the music completely drowned me out.

But wait..the day wasnt all about the motorshow..bangkok is more than that! We went to Patpong to have a walk and explore. Its a night club area where there are bar top dancers with girls in undies asking you to go in and touts everywhere..probably the geylang of Singapore, except you can see dancers from outside.

I like the BTS cards..so nostalgic..like years ago when Singapore didnt have ezlink cards.

Near our hotel..we went back..i forgot for what.. lol

Tuks Tuks...i dont normally get myself chopped..but we had to try it once for the experience..

So we took the tuktuk to Patpong.

It was an exhilarating ride..although it was only going maximum around 70-80km/h..it feels fast because of the air blowing at your face..much like riding a motorbike.

Tuk tuk driver

You can never get sick of the street markets in Bangkok.

I still remember years ago when i came to Bangkok with my parents i was in the same macdonalds waiting for my mother to finish her shopping there. We visited the very same macdonalds..

Funny toilet signs...Male = Soccer Player...Female = Cheerleader.. lol

Berney was eating salad because he had constipation..lol

A cuppa McCafe for the day.

Day 4..CHAK TU CHAK CHAKY HAKY CHAK

Priceless photo..lol..his eyes were not even fully closed and i swear he was asleep..scary as fug!

Nom nom nom at our hotel breakfast place..nice quiet clean place.

My Mee

We took the BTS to Chak Tu Chat which is only open on weekends..

OMG! Saturday crowd!

Go in first thing u will feel is heat + sun + heat + thirst + heat. lol

Lucky got drinks for 10baht..super cheep!

Mini snacks

Hokay we spent half a day there...walked round and round and round..everything was really cheap..cheaper than the malls, crazy amount of variety. There were clothes, food, paintings, sculptures, electronics, weapons, animals, ornaments, crystals, jewellery and more!!! Very tiring to walk also cause dam hot! I think girls will fair better than us.

Some interesting stuff..

another one for guishan =X

Curry also have!

Sisters..left side one sho cute!

Orange Juice..non stop squeezing!

Ciggys got wide variety!

Crowd

Did i tell you they sold animals/pets?

We walked like 4hours..tiring..sit down relac before we go back unload our goodies.

Mango Pudding

Mango Sundae with Glutinous Rice

After unloading our goodies..we trained down to Victory Monument..there is 80% locals liao..few foreigners there.

We ish like roamers..anyhow walk..walk into behind behind place..saw this nice place to makan! Its very interesting, they serve in small small bowls but lots of them. Got pig, chicken noodle and stuff..very "local" place.. We go in dun have a single foreigner.

You know the problem when we go into back back place where no have foreigner? Means your English got 0% effectiveness in this environment. You wont believe how i used body language to demonstrate what we wanted..to the waiter's credit he was patient and understood my weird demonstrations. lolol

Pig's blood thingie with pork ball and beehoon like noodle.

TomYam noodle thing.

Think this is fried something..lol

Fried skin of something

This one i know! Meatballs! What meat i dunno. Taste like pork.

Very cool hor..like our stomach damn big liddat..but actually is very little only. This place very very cheap, one of the cheapest "eating place" we have gone. Both of us eat liddat actually quite full only 150baht.

Walking Chak Tu Chat was tiring exercise..so we convinced ourselves that we deserve more food. =X

Yum yum. Somboon Seafood Restaurant

Nice place..looks expensive, but not really..prices around the same as the other restaurants in the malls. most of their dishes were 100baht+ veggies 80 baht. seafood was 200baht+

Tried their Signature Fried Curry Crab...its pretty good, the meat was juicy and "bouncy" got that feel and the curry taste unique. I wished it was more spicy though, maybe personal taste bah!

Stir Fried Pork Ribs..yummy..they cook till very soft and tender.

Ya ya ya..we were missing Singapore food. Kang Kong. lol

All their food was uneccesarily oily..should tone down on the oil hokay! Eat liao lips all oily oily wan.

Their drinks were damn good, super refreshing and cool.

Thank for the dinner!

We dropped dead in our hotel after that..sinful man..eat then sleep.

Day 5 Sun Sun its Sunday!

Another day in Bangkok! Morning recharge with hotel breakfast!

Went to the Grand Palace. Entrance fee was quite expensive at 350baht compared to 20baht for the Wat Arun. But you see more stuff though.

Beautiful blue skies...hot day as usual.

Many many tourists

The palace is so intricate..crazy amount of detail on such a large building.

Gold Plated Guardians..

Emerald Buddha

The Devils holding up the Golden Chedi

Fine detailed work..nice craftsmanship..probably took alot of time to do this.

Brilliant colours on this Lotus Flower

Monk...you can see how hot the sun is just by looking at the shadows cast by it on his face.

Nice long murals..

A Golden Suntan

The Grand Palace guards..they wont move..i take picture in front of him also wont move. Their stamina is good! Their uniforms look hot man.

Classic spotted!

The Grand Palace was really nice, i was impressed by the detail on their palaces and temples. But i feel this is one of those places where you visit once and never come back for a long time.

So we cab! Go to Chinatown, Berney wanted to buy dried food for his parents.

Chinatown! Ok despite the name not all were chinese there. Many GOLD sellers everywhere.

Herbie spotted!

At the shop..Berney bought a whole load of fried pork skin..sinful sinful!

This is interesting..it seems like the Thais can just dry any kind of fruit, pack them and sell. Not bad i tasted the sample, its pretty nice but not really cheap.

New Man Chai Seafood..Berney's mama recommendation. Price wise about the same as Somboon. Environment no fight, Somboon better. Food wise..average..only the Fish Maw was really nice. Good thing though the food's not so oily. Maybe next time shud try their seafood more.

Live prawns..mmmm..Tiger Prawn anyone?

Stir Fried Fish Maw...nice nice

Stir Fry Water Mimosa and Fried Fish with Lime Sauce

More of Chinatown..didnt dare to patronise this stall but its interesting.. Seafood on the streets..there were many seafood restaurants and hawkers in Chinatown..lots of them.

Chinatown alleys..nth much to see actually, the markets were dull compared to Chak Tu Chat or Khao San Road. Maybe we should have visited at night?

I love these skywalks..they take you away from the crazy dirt, dust and noise of the traffic below.

Urbanised Faith..
The Erawan Shrine or "Four Face Buddha" Its located at the heart of a slew of Shopping Malls. Religion/Tradition and Urbanisation coexisting together.

Dancers..you can donate money to the shrine and they will perform a dance which will "bless" you.

Across the street was Central World Shopping Mall. It was huge and we figured there will probably be food there, we also wanted to explore it since we missed it.

Probably the largest comparable to Siam Paragon this is the "Vivocity" of Singapore, lots of branded run of the mill stores. No Gucci, Burberry to be found here! More Adidas, Levis, KFC and other department stores.

We walked into the wrong MK. It should be MK alone. Not MK GOLD. Bloody hell we realised too late and just ate a few steamboat dishes before we got our asses out. Wasted. MK is 40 baht for a apple juice. MK Gold charges 70baht for the same thing!

Because we didnt fill our stomachs at MK. We got the chance to finally try the A&W near our hotel. All i can say is the service standard here is superb. Much better than the one at KL. Their food still sux though. lol

Heres my observation from a few A&W i eaten. A&W is only good for their Root Beer Float, Ice Cream Waffles and maybe their curly fries. The others cannot make it.

They are great.

SHIOK!!!!

I told you Samran Hotel provided Star Movies.. Here is me eating some A&W burger while watching Planet Terror. hehe

Oh yes..Thailand's tap water not potable also. So just buy their mineral water which is around 7baht. MY choice? SINGHA!

Moi ish bid a goodbye to the friendly receptionist who checked us in on our first day. Because we will be checking our tml and shes on night shift on our last night in Bangkok. =(

Tai or pronounced Dai.

Day 6..LAST DAY =(

Okay..this is the last day of my Bangkok trip..i must admit i do miss Singapore for my friends and the food. Other than that, i still love Bangkok and i hate leaving this place.

Sizzlers at 11am..cause we had to check out at 12pm!

Free refills for iced lemon tea

Buffet Salad Bar..shiok man this one. Can just whack only!

Mmmmm..my bbq pork ribs (half rack)..nice nice

Berney's Sausage and Chicken Combo..

Desserts!

Eating at Sizzlers was damn worth it! Next time will come back!

After that we had to do check out..the receptionist was kind enough to know we still want to walk walk so she offered to help us watch our bags while we leave them at the hotel. With lots of spare time before our 9pm flight we decided to go visit the Levi's Factory outlet at Sukhumvit Soi 99

Its nothing much really. Cheapest was Levis 535 for 550baht which is around $20 for authentic. But variety and sizes were limited. Not worth the effort to visit imo.

And so with the end of our journey in sight we were resigned to go to the Airport.

With loads of time we visited the Starbucks there to kill time. They were surprised when i said i was from Singapore Starbucks. hahaha.

Starbucks Espresso Choco Chip Brownie <- SG dun have. hehe

We watched movies and slacked for hours!

I went down to Family Mart to buy some snacks when i spotted 2 cute ger ger! They offered me free sweets so i had to repay them by taking their photos! =X

Yam and Kook

Kook

Yam

Alamak..who is this.

So times up and we dragged our feet to the gates. The food inside the gates of the airport was CRAZY EXPENSIVE. Burger King was more than 200baht for a meal which was more expensive than Singapore! Being bloody cheapskates which we were, we didnt eat. lol

Make matters worse our flight was delayed for about 40mins.

You can see who was bored on the plane randomly taking photos. The guy behind me had to be my model.

Changi from the skies!

Our plane the Jetstar Airbus A320.

I do miss bangkok for the cheap stuff, the great weather (at least it doesnt rain!), the food but mainly i will miss the people and the service standards there. Then they funny times when we had to use body language to express ourselves since our Thai cannot make it.

I am planning a trip back sometime in June, by TRAIN this time, pass by Kuala Lumpur, Penang then Bangkok will probably be cheap than by plane. Stay Tuned!! :D
